As a global coalition that advocates for the advancement of smart city initiatives through education and advocacy, the Smart Cities Council (SCC) hosts an array of must-attend events at cities all across the world, from London, to Colombo, to Adelaide — bringing together global policymakers, thought leaders, researchers, academics, philanthropists and a broad mix of organisations and experts, all seeking ways to advance smart city solutions that enhance urban living.

This year’s lineup of events promises to bring exciting insights into urban development, technology, and sustainability for every attendee working in this innovative and dynamic sector. Here’s a glimpse into the event schedule for 2024…

Smart Cities Week APAC
Date: August 5-9, 2024
Location: Adelaide, Australia 

Kicking off this week, August 5-9, the Smart Cities Council’s Asia-Pacific event will feature vertical deep dives, panel sessions, workshops, and keynote speeches covering topics such as transport, infrastructure, climate and energy, AI, cybersecurity, public safety and more.

SCC brings to this event a first-of-its-kind global program focused on First Nations and regional communities and will feature discussions around youth engagement, trade investment and startups.

Aimed at “those who are ideas-driven and solutions-oriented”, Smart Cities Week is for businesses, corporations, policymakers, start-ups, academics, researchers, students and philanthropists who wish to deliver positive social, environmental, and economic outcomes.

Smart Cities Summit: Environmental Services in focus
Date: September 24, 2024
Location: IET London: Savoy Place

This is a new conference run by Letsrecycle.com which focuses on integrating environmental services within the framework of smart cities to foster sustainability, efficiency, and inclusivity whilst meeting the demands of our expanding environment.

Agenda topics include innovative urban planning, sustainability in smart cities, smart infrastructure, resilience and adaptability and digital transformation.

GITEX Dubai: The Future of Urban Living 
Date: October 14-18, 2024
Location: Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE 

This event has been described as the “most trusted tech event”, and is renowned for its large-scale participation, with a wide, highly influential global following. Over five days, the GITEX Global event will host around 187,000 attendees, including 65,500 C-Level and Director attendees and 6,000 global enterprises.

Urban Metaverse & Smart Cities Summit
Date: October 17-18, 2024
Location: Alcala, Canarias – Tenerife, Spain

Smart City Expo World Congress
Date: November 7-9, 2024
Location: Barcelona, Spain 

The Smart City Expo World Congress is one of the world’s largest events for urban innovation. It brings together over 25,000 attendees, 600 speakers, 1,100 exhibitors, and involves more than 850 cities from across the globe.  The event features a three-day program with the world’s brightest minds in urban development.

Smart Cities Summit Sri Lanka
Date: 9 December, 2024
Location: Malabe, Western Province – Sri Lanka
