A ‘Grand Vision’ for 2025
The bold initiative has been organised around five ‘Grand Concepts’, each highlighting a unique aspect of Thailand’s offerings. These include iconic festivals, unique travel experiences, special promotions, high-profile visitors, and milestone events that celebrate the country’s successes.
Here are the ‘5 Grand Concepts’:
- Grand Festivity – A year-long calendar of celebrations, including iconic festivals such as Maha Songkran: Saneh Thai Carnival, Amazing Thailand Love Wins Festival, and Wonderfruit. Sports enthusiasts can look forward to MotoGP Thailand and the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok, while spectacular illumination events like Vijit Chao Phraya 2025 add an artistic touch.
- Grand Moment – Exclusive travel experiences that create unforgettable memories, from witnessing the pink sea of mist at Doi Inthanon to exploring the bioluminescent plankton in Chumphon.

Strategic growth and infrastructure development
Thailand’s ambitious tourism strategy isn’t all about attracting visitors, however — it’s about creating a seamless, world-class experience that makes people want to return to the country year after year.
With a focus on infrastructure upgrades, digital innovation, and enhanced travel convenience, the government is working to position Thailand as a premier global destination. From expanding airline capacity and streamlining immigration processes to improving transport networks and promoting sustainable tourism, these initiatives are set to elevate the country’s appeal and accessibility like never before.
Prime Minister H.E. Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra emphasised the significance of tourism as a key economic driver. “Beyond our natural beauty and cultural heritage, Thailand is evolving into a hub for Man-Made Tourism, with dynamic festivals, international events, and cutting-edge entertainment,” he said.
To support this vision, the Thai government is implementing a number of strategic measures:
- Increasing airline slots and flight frequencies to improve accessibility.
- Launching an online TM6 immigration system to streamline entry procedures.
- Enhancing transportation networks to connect major and lesser-known destinations.
- Strengthening safety measures to ensure a secure and welcoming experience for all visitors.
For UK travellers, this initiative presents an ideal opportunity to discover (or rediscover!) Thailand’s wonders with exclusive travel privileges and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a cultural enthusiast, or a sports fan, Thailand stands ready to welcome visitors with open arms and a spectacular lineup of events.

In sporting terms alone, Thailand is a thriving global hub, and The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) is playing a pivotal role in positioning Thailand as a global destination for sport. The MotoGP PT Grand Prix of Thailand was held at the end of February – Thailand’s sixth year hosting the prestigious MotoGP series — and plenty more sporting events are planned for the coming months. These include:
- FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025 (22 August – 7 September) – Uniting top teams across multiple Thai cities.
- 33rd SEA Games (9–20 December) – A showcase of elite athleticism across Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.
- Jet Ski World Series 2025 (17–21 December, Chon Buri) – A premier water sports event attracting international talent.
- 13th ASEAN Para Games (20–26 January 2026) – Reinforcing Thailand’s commitment to inclusivity in sports.
SAT Deputy Governor Mrs. Prodpran Samanmitr has highlighted the importance of leveraging sports tourism for economic growth. “By hosting top-tier international competitions, we aim to drive economic growth, establish Thailand as a premier global sports hub, and reinforce the nation’s reputation as a world-class sporting destination,” he said.
